Derby Reach Family Photos

When your family has been around the world and back, a longer-than-expected trek into the woods doesn’t signal consternation.  On the contrary, it’s an opportunity for adventure and excitement and conversation and exploration! =) I had clocked the walk along the Fort-to-Fort Trail at Derby Reach to the old barn as a reasonable .5km, but in the rain and from a farther parking spot, the walk seemed a longer, more arduous, less pleasant walk than the delight of a sunny warm day.  But without even the hint of a complaint, Jon & Roanna and their daughters spent the hike laughing and chatting and playing.  And  what better way to get to know new friends, right?!  Right!

With an international flare (Africa! Asia!  Canada! America!) and an energetic charisma that turns strangers into friends, this family brightened my world and impacted my life without – apparently – even trying.  We swapped travel stories, had an unspoken most-goofy-facial-expression contest, and celebrated the beauty of God’s kind attention in our lives and journeys.
