Why should you do engagement pictures?
1) Getting comfortable in front of the camera. It’ll make your wedding pictures even MORE amazing if you are completely comfortable.
2) Getting to know your photographer
I’m cool. Really cool. But you will really know that once we hang out. In order for your wedding day pictures to be as beautiful as they possibly can, you need to be as comfortable as you possibly can be. Both with the camera and with your photographer.
3) Letting your photographer get to know you
When I get to hang out with you on your wedding day, I’m spending time with you on the. most. important. day. of. your. life. For your benefit AND mine, I want to know you, what makes you smile, what gets you laughing, how you interact with you groom. So, while I’m taking photos and making you laugh, I’m preparing for wedding day too.
4) Pictures to use as engagement announcements, save the date cards, wedding websites, guest book
Yup. Once we take engagement photos, you have proof of your love, your beauty, and your man. You can share it with the world. Use it for wedding publications. Display it at the reception. And – best yet – show your kids in a few years when they ask how much you love each other.
How to Enjoy Engagement Pictures
1) treat it like a date: enjoy a lovey dovey time on the town. doing what you do. loving what you love. and – oh yeah – having a photographer documenting the whole story.
2) personalize it: what do you like to do? where do you like to do it? do you have a special story about how you met? whats your favorite color? let your location and your date and your shoot reflect you and what makes youyou love your guy.
3) bring props. not only will it help personalize your shoot, but it’ll also thrill your photographer’s soul. promise.
4) drink water. lots of it. especially if you’re shooting in the summer. and even if you’re shooting in the winter. it’ll make sure you look and feel perky and cute.
5) be yourself. yes, I know this one is the hard one. especially in front of the camera. but its crucial. critical. necessary. its why I do what I do. it’s why I will make goofy jokes and listen to your stories and ask you questions. i will do everything I can to make you comfortable. promise.
Deciding What To Wear
1) Coordinate outfits. Not necessarily matching. But don’t clash.
2) Bring outfit options: dress up, dress down, dress funky. This is your chance to shine. Enjoy it.
3) Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. Shoes. Scarves. Jewelry. Especially shoes. It’ll be fun. Promise.
4) Consider professional hair/makeup. Its not necessary, but it will be fun. And, hey, a little makeup never hurt anyone.
