Brix & Mortar Microwedding
Melissa and Nigel’s Brix & Mortar Microwedding was supposed to look wildly different than it did. More guests, fewer masks, bigger party, etc. Basically: theirs was a Covid wedding story full of pivoting and rescheduling and reorganizing.
But ohmygoodness. Despite it all, theirs was a wedding that will be forever imprinted on my heart; so full of love and joy and celebration, despite the circumstances. And THE WEATHER. Ohmygoodness. The weather even smiled on their wedding day and autumn shone bright for them.
We started the festivities at Living Water Church in Fort Langley where the skillful Pop Up Weddings BC orchestrated everything so seamlessly and crafted such a beautifully decorated space for their celebration. I mean, look at this classiness!
Even though only the immediate family and tightest of friends were celebrating in person, a Zoom live stream meant that friends from around the world could participate in the ceremony AND visit with Melissa & Nigel after the ceremony!
Despite the sunshine, the blustery autumn day kept us on our toes. They don’t look cold but lemme tell you they were!
I was photographing the girls when I heard manly shrieking (is that a thing?! it was in the whirlwind of this moment!) and the groomsmen had Nigel off the ground. Let’s just say it almost didn’t end well. 😉
Aren’t they gorgeous?!
THAT VEIL THOUGH!
This was my first time photographing a Brix & Mortar wedding, though I’ve been a fan of this space for years now. The beauty did not disappoint, as I think you’ll see. PLUS. This cake! One of the most beautiful cakes I have ever photographed, don’t you agree?
The Brix & Mortar wedding space is so effortlessly classy; between the brick and the ivy and the chandelier, it’s a dream.
My favourite part of the microwedding trend (and especially this Brix & Mortar microwedding) is the opportunity for very meaningful interactions. The speeches for Melissa & Nigel were everything; wedding advice, sentimental stories, sweet memories, bittersweet sorrow, laughter, tears, and fun.
We finished the night with a few alleyway portraits (cuz why not?!) and the drama really shows off Melissa’s beauty and Nigel’s love for her, doesn’t it?!
