Jenny and I took an adventure. An adventure in our very own town. Technically, we were taking senior pictures and talking about all her future plans and dreams. But since I love adventure and adventure loves me, and since Jenny saw the adventures, too, our day in Winston-Salem turned into an adventure.
First, we hiked up four flights of stairs. In a parking garage. Did you know that the downtown Winston parking garage floors are numbered by musical instruments? So if you park your car there, all you have to do is say “I am playing the trumpet when I go find my car” and you’ll remember where you parked!
Then, we took a wrong turn and ended up in a not-so-pleasant side of town. Lets just say we high tailed it outta there. Fast. And were NOT interested in stopping at the super photogenic spot we saw. (I promise, Mom. We didn’t.)
And, finally, we found a tunnel. Yes, a TUNNEL. In Winston Salem. Downtown. If that doesn’t make us cool, I don’t know what does.
So there we were. Two girls with the most amazing name in the world. Taking unboring Senior Pictures. And having adventures.
P.S. When Jenny heads abroad to study in Ireland, I’m going to go visit her. Then we’ll have real adventures. 😛
Meet Alissa and Jessica. They laugh. And laugh. And laugh some more. They have inside jokes and code words and silly faces. Basically, they are the coolest definition of friendship. Ever. They go to school together. They laugh together. They work together. They laugh together. They do sports together. They laugh together. Seriously. Nothing serious…
Bre is from Louisiana. Bre came to Vancouver to visit her dream college. Bre and I connected three (four?) months ago when Google pointed her to me. Bre and I became friends when we fell into snowbanks together, froze in the woods, and slipped on icy paths. Basically, senior portraits on Grouse Mountain became a…
Life. Love. Laugh. Its a mainstream wallhanging, an over-used cliche, a plaque on a bathroom wall. Truly, I see it everywhere. But for McKenzie, its not just a cliche. Its a reality. Even in just a few hours hanging out with her in little nooks and crannies of Winston Salem, I saw her live,…
He strode, proud, through the barn. Even to an unexperienced eye, his power and poise was unmistakable. This is not your average pony, neither is it just any horse. The gaggle of admirers wait in the middle of the barn; they’re Kirsten’s cheerleaders and they’re good at what they do. The duo carefully prances back…
He admitted it freely: he didn’t want his picture taken. But he was a good sport, obliging his sentimental mother and tolerating me. Me? I saw him as a challenge. I wanted to prove to him that I could make picture-time fun and not pure torture. He was, in my opinion, my Mona Lisa, waiting…
