Pink and Orange

The girl who loves pink married the boy who loves orange.

Yes, pink and orange.

Trendy, funky, and sentimental.  Definitely not expected. Oh – and no lace hearts or pastel butter mints.

Not that lace hearts are bad, I just wanted to do something different for my friend, something unique, and something with a personal twist when I started planning a bridal shower for my friend Maddie.

Ergo, Pink and Orange.

The Summer Party Supplies at Michaels were orange — and on clearance.
The menu was super easy when walking through the store looking for anything remotely pink and orange: Doritos and twizzlers, eh?
The pink lemonade cake squares from Deweys were a huge hit.

Oh – and you can’t expect a photographer to host a party without using photos as part of the decor, right?

(Yes, that’s a window full of ribbons with pictures hanging from the ends.)  Super easy. And a super big hit. Talk about DIY with a stapler, scissors, and ribbon.

But my all-time favorite element of this party, will – I anticipate – be the one that lasts the longest:  as we took a picture of each attendee with the bride, I gave everyone a bright pink or orange card to write a message to the bride. Then, at her wedding, I stuck the little book full of  love, messages, and photos into her purse. Eventually she’ll find it — and know how much her friends love her.

And that, my friends, is how a photographer plans a bridal shower.

  1. At first I have to admit I was more than skeptical of the color combo choice. But it is amazing and, well, summery! A word of caution: if your party skills are too fabulous, you will become THE Party Planner for your peer group. . .if you haven’t already. (I *am* aghast that you stapled pictures.)
