You really only need to see one photo from this American Creek Lodge Wedding in the rain to understand how intensely the downpour dampened the day (pun completely intended) and how gorgeous the day was anyway.
Living in British Columbia, I am used to rainy wedding days and have learned to embrace them wholeheartedly. However, I am pretty sure this is the first outdoor ceremony in the rain I’ve ever shot. I held an umbrella in one hand, balanced a camera on my lap while I squatted on the wet stairs, and took photos with the other camera (all while holding my breath and hoping I could get the shots I needed while keeping the lens clean and dry). It was intense.
S & B get MAJOR props for gliding through the day with immense poise, effervescent joy, and contagious enthusiasm. Rain was dampening the day but it wasn’t dampening their spirits.
Look how beautiful an American Creek Lodge wedding is — even in the rain! (And since all the best love stories include a kiss in the rain, this marriage is charmed from the start. <3)
We went inside to dry off a little before the reception (a wet wedding dress is a HEAVY dress!) and then it was back outside as the clouds parted and the rainbow came.
I’m pretty sure I remember correctly: this was the only twenty minutes of rain-free time all afternoon. And WOW so gorgeous.
The rock was slippery, the grass was still damp, but the clouds were below us and the magic was palpable. We call this kind of adventure “big fun” because it’s a little be overwhelming at the time (maybe even a tad bit hard) but makes for THE BEST stories in the end.
CHECK OUT this elegance! American Creek Lodge weddings are so charmed and even with a smaller-than-anticipated guest list and a wetter-than-anticipated wedding day, this wedding will forever stand out as one of the most meaningful and memorable.
