Winston Salem Engagement Photos

When Matt & Kristen and I were trying to coordinate a date for engagement shoot, my (very brief) weekend in North Carolina was already plumb full except for one dreaded sunrise slot on a Monday morning.  I’m not sure which is more amazing: my willingness to get up at 6am while jetlagged (that’s 3am PST, btw) or Kristen’s willingness to be photo ready at 7am on a Monday morning.  I’m sure you can imagine everyone’s relief when my schedule cleared and I was able to sleep through sunrise but hang out with Matt & Kristen for sunset.

I’m not sure I can admit this publicly, but in twelve years of living in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina I never visited Krankies Coffee.  Say whaaaat?!?! Somehow, I waited until after I’d moved 3500 miles away before finally visiting this gem of Winston-Salem.

Do not pass go, do not collect $200: proceed directly to Krankies. RIGHT NOW.

Matt & Kristen have spent many delicious hours chillaxin’ at Krankies.  As food connoisseurs and coffee snobs, a locally roasted cuppa joe is pretty much required.  Starting our engagement session over coffee, then, was the perfect start to what was the perfect day.

When we had enough coffee, it was time to pull in the dogs.

After working with these two and their humans, my hubby will be so glad to know that we’re (finally) getting a dog.  (Surely our two cats will get along swimmingly with a puppy. No problem, right?  Riiiight?)   I can’t even begin to explain how quickly I fell in love with these beautiful pups and their amazing, adventurous, patient, beautiful humans.  All four are gems! So amazing.

(And to think we weren’t sure we’d get a perfect photo of the four. Ha. Nailed it!)

As if coffee-drinking, puppy-loving wasn’t enough to permanently establish Matt & Kristen as spectacularly awesome, throw in a bowtie, some matching Converse, and a loaded passport to chronicle their romance. Le swoooon.

Not much can trump a proposal in Bavaria, Germany overlooking Neuschwanstein Castle in the snow covered Alps. Except if it’s the love that the high school choirmates have cultivated over the years, throughout the journey, around the world, for each other…

(P.S. Matt & Kristen met at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winston Salem, so it’s only fitting we spent part of their engagement session reliving their first few meetings while exploring the ornate beauty in the heart of the city.)

After the fun we had taking their Winston Salem engagement photos, I can’t even imagine how amazing their July wedding is going to be!
