American Creek Lodge Wedding
Spoiler alert: Katrina & Adam’s American Creek Lodge Wedding was one of the most gloriously scenic celebrations I have ever witnessed and theirs was a charmed day filled with family from around the continent, friends from just as far away, scenery to write home about, and all this to mark the start of a marriage built on adventure. (And by “adventure” I do mean adventure — between a roadtrip honeymoon year and glibly climbing into the wilderness in wedding finery, these two know what Adventure is all about.)
Adam and Katrina met at an oceanside resort (Dominican Republic? I think? I got distracted by the “somewhere gorgeous and exotic” concept :-P), drove the four hours between Ontario home towns at the start of their relationship, and eventually moved to British Columbia to enjoy the mountains and rivers and oceans. (See? ADVENTURE!) If I’ve ever met two people perfect for a glamorous wedding up a Forest Service Road, it’s these two. Their American Creek Lodge Wedding in Hope, BC was the perfect mix of classic beauty (check out Katrina’s epic Maggie Sotero gown!) and majestic scenery (the mountains! the forest! the views!) and completely epitomized my joy in juxtaposing rugged adventure with femininity.
The joy of an American Creek Lodge Wedding for an intimate celebration is how everything can happen in one perfectly situated place — the bridal suite looked out onto the ceremony location and the reception location doubled as the start of Katrina’s walk down the aisle. Once dressed, Katrina and her girls were able to peek out at the guests as they were settling into the beauty of the venue.
And ohmyword, Katrina: you’re stunning!
As the talented string trio from Musical Occasions provided the soundtrack for the ceremony, Luna and Inca delivered the rings to Adam as he stood waiting for his bride. (How PRECIOUS is that?! The dogs actually had the rings and trotted down the steps in front of Katrina.)
The music swelled just right and there weren’t many dry eyes as Katrina entered and Adam gasped.
DID I MENTION THE VIEW?!
Kevan from Designer Ceremonies made sure everyone kept kleenex handy as he shared his version of their love story. With many quotable, pithy, witty summations of their love scattered throughout the ceremony, one particularly struck me: “She grounds him, and he lift her up.”
She grounds him, he lifts her up.
How perfect is that?!
Everything about an American Creek Lodge wedding is sublime but especially marvelous is how beautifully photogenic it is. Just gaze in awe and be amazed.
(And shout out to my second shooter for the day, Makayla, who absolutely rocked it with me — including this magical action shot as Katrina strode through the field.)
Bridal Party
Aren’t these bouquets from Sophia’s Flower Shop just scrumptious?!
While we’re marveling at all the thoughtful details that Katrina curated for her wedding day, let’s especially be amazed at her wedding shoes: these beautiful pumps were her Grandma’s!
(And check out the mountain detail from Reddy Made Cakes! Katrina thought of everything and her team implemented her dreams with flourish!)
Guests were invited to fill their cups with herbs and toss in celebration — what a beautiful and fragrant moment!
After a dinner so deliciously prepared and elegantly served by White Table Catering, Katrina & Adam cut into their cake and I once again marvel at the epic backdrop they chose for their celebration. Have you ever seen a cake cutting so perfectly situated?!
After the more romantic and traditional first dance, Katrina and Adam got to enjoy a traditional Jewish chair dance — I’m amazed at how easily these guys lifted the chairs in the air and I’m especially amazed at how much trust is involved in letting yourself be lifted up into the sky in a chair! =D
(Take one final moment to marvel at that dress, okay? Such perfection!)
