Grouse Mountain Portraits

Bre is from Louisiana.  Bre came to Vancouver to visit her dream college.  Bre and I connected three (four?) months ago when Google pointed her to me.  Bre and I became friends when we fell into snowbanks together, froze in the woods, and slipped on icy paths. Basically, senior portraits on Grouse Mountain became a uniquely bonding experience and my new BFF and I laughed SO HARD all day as we slipped, slid, snowballed, posed, photographed, collaborated. I am so thankful for Google, for dream colleges in Vancouver, and for amazing Louisiana girls who dream of senior portraits in an evergreen forest with snow caps.

Bre’s Grouse Mountain portraits are some of my new all-time-favourites.

(Plus: a photo shoot in the snow requires a snowball fight. Especially when little sister is at home just waiting for the snowball pictures. ;-P)

The best part of all this snow?  It’s all within a short walking distance of the warm lodge at Grouse Mountain, it feels rustic and remote but Starbucks is eight minutes away, and the light walk has so many beautiful Christmas-style lights adding to the magic of the winter wonderland!

Bre, thanks for being fabulous. Thanks for humouring me and my artistic whims.  Thanks for holding my camera when I fall into the snowbank and couldn’t get out. Thanks for sharing my love for the beauty of Vancouver and for squealing with glee at every new beauty. You are a beautiful soul. Keep on smiling!

And this is my new favourite perk of living in Vancouver: 40 minutes after I was falling into snow banks up to my hip, we were in the lush green of Lynn Canyon Park.
