Aside from everything else I love about being a photographer, wanna know my favourite part of being a wedding photographer? It’s the clients that turn into friends. Almost six years ago, Bradley & Jill entrusted me with their engagement photos in Leesburg, VA and then their wedding photos in New York State. Four-ish years ago we did an anniversary-ish session. Somwhere along the way, Bradley started his own photography pursuit, they guest posted on my blog about how to take better iPhone photos, and this summer they came to explore the PNW!
Bradley assisted me at Chloe & Christan’s Point Roberts Wedding, I wore them out trying to see all my favorite corners of the Lower Mainland (sorry, guys! there’s just too much to see!), and I got to photograph their cozy love at Alouette Lake. My word, you guys. I know I’m not supposed to pick a favourite photo session, but I really really really am tempted to pick this as my new favourite! I specifically took this photo to mimic the sun flare of their engagement session. How’s that for full circle? (No pun intended.) He loves her so good! I especially love how well Bradley makes Jill laugh…and how willingly Jill leans into him. Good grief, guys. Can you get any cuter?! I think not. Using the same boat as Meghan & Jason’s Jones Lake love story, we watched the sun set over the glacier and cuddled in the canoe.
(Funny story, though: we forgot to bring the paddles for the boat, so I had to position them manually….and had to drag the boat through the water to the spot I wanted it. No cameras were harmed in the process, but I’m awfully thankful for my Keen water sandals.)
Every day is a good day when there’s sunshine (especially in the rainy Pacific Northwest) but it’s an even BETTER day when that sunshine comes out just in time to witness Vancouver’s partial solar eclipse (my very first solar eclipse!). The day had been cloudy and rainy but as I drove to Campbell Valley Park,…
Picking a “favorite” photograph or a “favorite” type of session is, in my opinion, akin to picking a “favorite” child or “favorite” sibling: ill-advised. However, as far as stress-free, love-filled, happily-photographed sessions go, engagement sessions could easily be my favorite. I love having a leisurely schedule to meander a city with two people who are…
Each step had to be careful, deliberate. Slow movement was the only movement. By all appearances, the river had been covering our pathway not too long before we’d arrived and our shoes held the mud to prove it. Step. Ssssssluhzs. Step. Ssssssluhzs. The mud-meet-shoe made a sucking/slurping/popping/mucous-blowing sound. Step. Ssssssluhzs. Step. Ssssssluhzs. But the mud…
When we hiked to the Manning Park Larches for wedding portraits in celebration of Rae & Kyle’s ten years of marriage, we absolutely fell in love with the untouched beauty of yellow evergreens (yup. absolutely an oxymoron. go study the larches and be amazed at God’s creativity in design!) but we also took full advantage of…
“There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t met yet.” William Butler Yeats We rode the incline railroad together, but barely noticed each other in the excitement of riding a train backwards straight up the mountain. We wandered around Lookout Mountain together, but had no reason to interact as we peered over the Chattanooga…

Love this engagement session!!! Such a great location and beautiful genuine photos.
These are fabulous. Much depends not only on the rare quality of their love, but also on the rare ability of the photographer to capture that beauty. Your additional adept and gentle skill with words was also necessary to sweetly portray this love amidst such natural beauty. Part of the whole beautiful package. Thank you, Jennifer.
