Aside from everything else I love about being a photographer, wanna know my favourite part of being a wedding photographer? It’s the clients that turn into friends. Almost six years ago, Bradley & Jill entrusted me with their engagement photos in Leesburg, VA and then their wedding photos in New York State. Four-ish years ago we did an anniversary-ish session. Somwhere along the way, Bradley started his own photography pursuit, they guest posted on my blog about how to take better iPhone photos, and this summer they came to explore the PNW!
Bradley assisted me at Chloe & Christan’s Point Roberts Wedding, I wore them out trying to see all my favorite corners of the Lower Mainland (sorry, guys! there’s just too much to see!), and I got to photograph their cozy love at Alouette Lake. My word, you guys. I know I’m not supposed to pick a favourite photo session, but I really really really am tempted to pick this as my new favourite! I specifically took this photo to mimic the sun flare of their engagement session. How’s that for full circle? (No pun intended.) He loves her so good! I especially love how well Bradley makes Jill laugh…and how willingly Jill leans into him. Good grief, guys. Can you get any cuter?! I think not. Using the same boat as Meghan & Jason’s Jones Lake love story, we watched the sun set over the glacier and cuddled in the canoe.
(Funny story, though: we forgot to bring the paddles for the boat, so I had to position them manually….and had to drag the boat through the water to the spot I wanted it. No cameras were harmed in the process, but I’m awfully thankful for my Keen water sandals.)
Twelve years ago, they were a couple of students. Sharpening pencils, groaning over the inevitable pop quiz, whizzing through the whirlwind of classes and friends, lugging backpacks full of text books and notebooks and study guides. A lot happens in twelve years. Instead of school books, they’re carrying a pair of shoes. A little pair…
With a grace few could hope to achieve, Catherine stepped into a wobbly rowboat and settled herself with poise and class. She exuded elegance, even in the adventurous atmosphere that comes when weaving with the current in a rowboat on an ocean bay. Before summer had officially arrived, she had surrendered her white jacket to…
Caeden looked over his mom’s shoulder, his eyes lighting up. Although already an gentle, easy-going, loving-life baby full of smiles and giggles, his grin grew even larger as he saw what was walking toward him. I couldn’t quite understand it, and Valerie saw my puzzled look and turned to see what was walking up behind…
The fourth family photo session in as many years with Michelle & Bryant’s family was a rousing success. To add victory to the victory, this time we had the most kids and the least amount of stress and the best photos. Triple win, right? How’d we do it? 1. Let the kids choose parts of…
Morning took a long time to arrive. The clouds hung low, blocking out the early rays. Google was, for once, proven wrong. It had told us that sunrise would be early. Bold. Dramatic. It failed. It grew lighter, less dark. She could now count her fingers — her cold fingers — by sight instead of…
I would imagine that being in love must be something like dancing in the sunset on the rooftop: soaring high above the mundane lives of everyone else, watching them trod to work, but not really caring about the traffic jam that’s causing stress. The sun is brighter, you’re soaring higher, and you’re on a completely…

Love this engagement session!!! Such a great location and beautiful genuine photos.
These are fabulous. Much depends not only on the rare quality of their love, but also on the rare ability of the photographer to capture that beauty. Your additional adept and gentle skill with words was also necessary to sweetly portray this love amidst such natural beauty. Part of the whole beautiful package. Thank you, Jennifer.
