Engagement Photos at the Fair

Noah and Darbey are engaged.  I need to take a few minutes to breathe that in and try to forget how old that makes me, since I babysat Noah at least twenty years ago and I have at least one photo from when our families went on a field trip together.  A few years after those baby sitting, field tripping days, I photographed Darbey’s sister’s Murder Mystery class project and first met that little blonde who has grown up a lot in the past eight-ish years.
I photographed Senior Photos for Noah and Darbey, hosted them on their tour de Vancouver Senior Trip three years ago, and now they’re GETTING MARRIED next September!
After so many photo-ops through the years, the pressure was on to create magical moments just a few inches outside “normal.” What better way to have unique engagement photos than a date with paparazzi than at the fair?!  People-watching and food-eating and ride-riding and game-winning made for an evening chock-full of memories (like when their shuttle bus had a fender-bender, or when we planned a Farris Wheel photo-op and realized someone is afraid of heights!) and simply perfect photos for the ages!
A day at the fair isn’t an easy engagement session location, even though Noah & Darbey make it look so smashingly perfect. With so many people to watch you model, so much noise to drown out your photographer’s suggestions, and so many steps to walk between photo-ops,  it isn’t for the faint of heart.  We had three goals, though, and it was so totally #worthit: 1) Fireworks, 2) Twilight on the Farris Wheel, 3) Midway Light Play.  We accomplished it all AND ate delicious food along the way!
Darbey & Noah are getting married next year and I GET TO BE THERE! Word to the NC readers: that’ll be my next trip, so add your name to the North Carolina Mailing List if you might want photos while I’m in town!
