Engagement photos are some of the most treasured sessions to shoot — free of the inevitable wedding day time restrictions, engagement photos are my time to get to know my clients, let them get to know me, and see how their relationship looks in real time, and figure out which jokes make them laugh. Always filled with fun and at least a smidge of adventure, engagement photos are what allow wedding day portraits to be exceptional: it’s the trial run that not only creates beautiful images documenting this pre-marriage season, but also ensures that we know how to create fabulous photos on the inevitably tight timeline that comes with wedding day schedules.
This year I photographed twice at the top of Grouse Mountain, found a surprise sunset at Stanley Park, stomped in water at Cultus Lake, explored the riverbank in Chilliwack, swooned over Pitt Lake, and went off-roading in the rain. (And SO MANY MORE fun moments — some in the video, some not in the video, but all deeply embedded in my heart. My clients are not just my job . . . they have become my friends and being part of their story is a treasure.
